Cutting Clutter in Tiny Bedroom

There is a fine line between cute, acceptable clutter and a downright disaster in your bedroom. Frumpy blankets on your bed are cute and stacks of books and magazines on the floor are eccentric, but when you can’t close your closet door and you dread finding a place for clean laundry every weekend, you know you have a problem and need to clean up your clutter. The more obvious solution may be to donate or get rid of your unused things, but you may be unwilling to do that, or maybe the storage space you do have barely holds your necessities. Thankfully, there are ways to maximize storage in even the smallest of settings.

Firstly, if you have not tried out cube storage, you definitely need to. Hit up your local furniture store for cute cube organizer bins come in a wide variety of fabrics and colors, so you can match even the craziest of color schemes. If you don’t want the plain old 4 drawer organizer cube, you can customize your storage with a cube organizer with doors or a cube organizer with drawers. You can put fabric bins in in every space of your 4 drawer organizer cube or mix it up with two fabric cubes and two spaces for folding and stacking clothes.

If you need a little more storage than a 4 drawer organizer cube has to offer, consider sealing up your out of season clothes with a vacuum sealer. You just fold your sweaters in the summer time or your tanks and swimsuits in the winter months, pack them into vacuum seal bags, and bam—your vacuum sealer sucks the air out of the bag until it is practically paper thin. Now you can stack and slide your out of season clothes away in even the tightest of places, such as under your bed, behind your hanging clothes in your closet, or spaces behind and between furniture.

Still desperate for some more space? Try switching out your bed for a sleeper sofa. Sleeper sofas use up a fraction of the space in your bedroom that a traditional bed takes, and sleeper sofas can be used in the daytime for lounging, doing homework, and more. Or, if that is not what you are looking for, you can find many models of storage beds that have drawers, shelves, and other spaces for you to stash your stuff.

Of course, finding a storage solution would be easier if you went through your closet and got rid of some unwanted and unworn clothes. Aren’t sure what you truly don’t wear and wouldn’t miss? Start the season by hanging all of your clothes with the curve of the clothes hanger hook backwards, facing you instead of away from you. When you wear something, wash it, and hang it back up in your closet, hang it as your normally would. Anything with the hook still backwards has not been worn in a season and can be donated or thrown away.

You do not have to feel as if you are drowning in your own clothing every day. There are countless storage solutions out there to fit your own personal space needs.
